away with job. >> reporter: among the dozens of people filling out job applications today we found debbie anderson. >> my big skill is people communications, i've dealt with multimillion dollar deals for years. >> reporter: after the new america's cup pavilion. >> as a woman that came from high -- high yield income it's difficult finding a job. >> reporter: she used to represent a fruit company making international deals. the jobs available here? ticket takers and maintenance workers. and every time she goes for an interview, she hears the same thing. >> you almost seem overqualified. >> yeah i'm very overqualified actually. >> reporter: but a job is a job. carl gordon knows that. he's already got two of them. >> my current job is part-time -- 3 # hours a week and i also work from home doing business development on my own. >> reporter: he's looking for a third in a job market that's still proving difficult five years after the recession began. >> just to give it the

the vessel, it triggered an explosion. another boater who watched the rescue says fire is one of the biggest dangers aboard a motor boat. >> the smoke is very toxic. because you have resins, fiberglass, you have chemicals and you have wood you have fuels. a lot of things that burn. carpeting. so there really -- boats can be quite volatile. >> one person was taken to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation. the three others were not hurt. a developing story in pittsburgh right now. a man hunt is underway for the suspect who tried to kidnap a 2- year-old girl from her front yard. this search is centered on an area near the girl's home on snow flake way. police have been canvassing the neighborhood since yesterday afternoon. police say just before 2:00, a man grabbed the toddler as her mother watched her play and he then started running. he dropped the toddler into some bushes after the mother yelled after him. long time residents say this is

a first for the neighborhood. >> i wouldn't say it's something that we certainly hasn't happened here before. and you know we lived here -- we've lived here since the development was built so yeah very unusual occurrence. >> investigators say the girl is traumatized but otherwise unharmed and police just released this sketch of the suspect. he is in his 30s and he is described as clean shaven, with collar length dirty blond hair. he was wearing a green shirt and blue jeans. other bay area headlines, oakland police are looking for a suspect in a triple shooting. one person was killed and two were injured near children's hospital last night. witnesses say they heard up to 20 gunshots. one of the injured victims is in critical condition. it happened just a block from where a mother was shot and killed wednesday in front of her 4-year-old son. last night, shootings is the 32nd homicide in the city. and police in belmont are looking for a bank robbery suspect. investigators say this man held up a still bank on the avenue

just before 6:00 last night. the suspect is described as thin and light skinned, wearing a ski mask. black jacket, and dark jeans. well, there has been an arrest in the case involving poisoned letters sent to president obama, a u.s. senator and a mississippi judge. as cbs reporter ines ferre reports i would comes just after charges were dropped against another man. >> reporter: the fbi arrested james everett dutschke at his home in mississippi overnight. hours after this photo was taken. agents searched his house and the studio he owned this week. as part of the investigation into ricin tainted letters sent to president p and other officials. -- obama and other officials. during that search the 41-year- old denied having anything to do with the poisoned letters. >> this is just crazy. this is just insane. >> reporter: the letters which tested positive for ricin were september to the president and -- sent to the president and senator wicker of mississippi.

a tainted letter was also sent to an 80-year-old mississippi judge whose family dutschke has clashed with in the past. charges were initially filed against an elvis impersonator named curtis but were dropped tuesday. >> i would like to move on with me life and find out what normal is again. >> reporter: curtis claims he had been framed and blamed dutschke. the fbi would not say what they found but dutschke is charged with developing, producing and possessing a biological agent or toxin for use as a weapon. he faces life in prison if convicted. ines ferre for cbs news, new york. the fbi has wrapped up its search on a landfill related to the boston marathon bombing. it is near the university of massachusetts dartmouth where the suspect dzhokhar tsarnaev was a student. the investigator won't say if they recovered anything. meantime, we're learning the suspects' mother was added to a federal terrorism data base

along with her older son 18 months before the attack. an officials say russian authorities secretly recorded a conversation in 2011 in which one of the suspects discussed jihad with his mother. new york city officials will begin searching for human remains next week two blocks from the world trade sent. it come after yesterday's -- center. it comes after yesterday's discovery of an aaron's landing gear -- airplane's landing gear in an alley behind a mosque site. investigators say the rusted landing gear is believed to be from one of the september 11th hijacked planes. lost at sea for 14 hours. we're now hearing from the bay area man and his sister whose ship sank in the caribbean. the survival trick they used to make it to shore. >> and the biggest players in washington collide with hollywood stars for a night of laughs, a look at the white house correspondents' dinner underway right now. >> from the kpix 5 weather center. good evening everybody.

turned into a fight for the the bay area man and his sister are happy to be home after a fishing trip turned into a fight for their lives. dan suski of san francisco and his sister kate were fishing off the coast of st. lucia in the caribbean last monday. they jumped off the ship be life preservers after the boat started sinking. they swam for 14 hours before reaching land. the siblings arrives back at miami international airport overnight. >> see land off in the distance and started swimming that direction. and then it would disappear intermittently. as we swam. but we felt the wind behind us and tried to use that as a gauge for direction. >> doctors treated them for dehydration. they also suffered severe tendsnitis and abrasions on the backs of their necks from the life preservers. relief is in sight for air travelers. today the faa says it suspended

all employee furloughs which means air traffic facilities will be back to normal staffing by tomorrow evening. it comes a day after congress passed legislation allowing the agency to withdraw the furloughs. president obama called it a band-aid fix. he used his radio address today to urge congress to act on the sequester cuts. >> members of congress may not feel the pain felt by kids kicked off of head start. or the 750,000 americans projected to lose their jobs because of the cuts or the long- term unemployed who will be further hurt by them. but that pain is real. >> republican congressman from pennsylvania called for replacing the sequestration cuts with smarter ones. he also pointed out the faa could have found other ways to cut spending. well, the annual mingling of the washington press corps and the power players they report upon is upon us. and this is a live look inside the washington hilton where things are getting underway. the white house correspondents' association dinner lets politicians and the press kind

an eight year old boy. hit in the chest little league officials in sonoma county are buying defib raylators. the boy was hit in the chest by a pitch during a game in roanoke park two weeks ago. the blow disrupted his heartbeat and he collapsed. fortunately two paramedics were able to revive him and the defibrillator shocked his heart back the normal rhythm. little leagues are buying their own machines in several cities. authorities in several communities are taking drugs off the streets one old prescription at a time. law enforcement agencies in martinez, concord, nava doe and santa clara all took part in national prescription drug takeback day. they could drop off the old or unwanted prescription drugs and organizers say the martinez event collected roughly more than 10,000 pills in addition

effect. officially sun down is at 7:57. as a day that was just perfect as far as our average high temperatures are concerned. and right now, we are in the 50s through the 60s. and it is 70 degrees in santa rosa and 82 degrees in livermore. let's focus in right there on san jose downtown. 72. the winds are out of the northwest at 13 miles per hour. with crystal clear skies. but it will become overcast. we already saw the clouds gathering at the immediate seashore. sunny and warmer for your sunday. a dry weather pattern for the extended weather forecast even though right now we have the suggestion of the clouds lining the coast. it did not keep the people away because the clouds retreated and they came out in numbers. and boy, even with that small craft advisory along the coast, the boats are out on the bay and enjoying the warm weather and we're going to continue to see the warm weather each and every day. all the way through this time next week. bright sunshine for your sunday.

80 degrees at santa cruz. the westerlilies will kick up 10 to 20 miles per hour. area of low pressure to the north of the bay area. we actually even had an eddy to the south of us. meanwhile the next approaching trough is way out here. this will bring the temps down just a couple of degrees by tuesday. but until then, our numbers are going up. that's after they go down tonight. into the 40s and few low 50s. 52 degrees in mountain view and again we will have the saturation of the low clouds and pouching along the -- patchy fog along the coast and well into the bay. 49 degrees overnight in flout the trivalley. reaching highs tomorrow into the mid 80s. again right now it's 82 in livermore today. tomorrow however, warmer at 86. 87 degrees in fairfield but i'm forecasting 90. 90 degrees. that will be the outside number in morgan hills. 70 in san francisco. a repeat performance again on monday. just looked at her and she went wow. tuesday, that's when that trough reaches to the bay area putting a dent to the ridge of high pressure but then it expends and rebuilds.
